... descent job at embossing. Evening everyone. Well, I finally did an embossing image that actually turned out okay. I have been trying to do this technique for the past year and each time I tried, it would turn out horrible and just gave up until recently. After attending the scrapbook convention in Charlotte, NC recently and saw several ladies doing their magic, I knew I had to learn - it is always so beautiful. I went and spoke to the lady at my local scrapbook store and she walked me through embossing and helped me figure out that I wasn't putting enough powder on my stamped image (also, do it immediately, don't wait or it will dry). On this image, I dumped out 1/2 of the bottle and it came out pretty good, I thought. I know practice is still needed, but I'm excited about doing this more often.
We have a lady in our office who is getting married and since I didn't know the colors of her wedding, thought I would go with a basic ivory and peach color theme. I was so excited about the embossed wedding cake turning out so well, I also embossed "congratulations" on the inside of the card and my signature stamp on the back (didn't take pictures of those though - sorry). Give me your thoughts and thanks for stopping by.
Have a great evening - I would be back tomorrow but Jim and I have a curriculum class at Patrick's school for 2 hours. It's so we can learn what our 5th graders are learning - I am definitely not smarter than a 5th grader and am not ashamed to say so :) After what we went through last year trying to learn how Patrick was being taught math in the 4th grade (it's so very different than how our two older children were taught a few years back), I'm very happy the school is doing this for us.
See you soon and hope you enjoy your Thursday.

I just love this. The cake looks great! I love how it picks up all the colors!!!
ReplyDeleteYou did great on the embossing and what pretty card!
ReplyDeleteJanet, this card is beautiful. I love the bow, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteIts a really nice card Janet. Have to say I don't do much embossing but I like doing it all the same. Linda taught me how to do it and she is really good at it - uses it on scrapbook pages as well as cards.
ReplyDeleteNice job Janet, worth plugging away at the technique as it gives such pretty results.

ReplyDeleteI love the look of embossed images!
ReplyDeleteNice job on your embossed cake! the colors and ribbon are so pretty! I find that the kind of Embossing powder can also make a difference - some are finer than others - and the finer ones show more detail of your stamp.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely wedding card and YES, embossing is fun and I, too, love the results! TFS!!!
