New Cricut Challenge Blog

Hey everyone:

I just wanted to share with you that my awesome friend, Samatha has a new cricut challenge blog called Just Buggin' (isn't that the coolest name) that will be up and going soon. Please head on over and take a look. Sam is always doing something spectacular and I can't wait to see what she and Sara have in store for us.

Have a great Sunday.

My first ...

... descent job at embossing. Evening everyone. Well, I finally did an embossing image that actually turned out okay. I have been trying to do this technique for the past year and each time I tried, it would turn out horrible and just gave up until recently. After attending the scrapbook convention in Charlotte, NC recently and saw several ladies doing their magic, I knew I had to learn - it is always so beautiful. I went and spoke to the lady at my local scrapbook store and she walked me through embossing and helped me figure out that I wasn't putting enough powder on my stamped image (also, do it immediately, don't wait or it will dry). On this image, I dumped out 1/2 of the bottle and it came out pretty good, I thought. I know practice is still needed, but I'm excited about doing this more often.
We have a lady in our office who is getting married and since I didn't know the colors of her wedding, thought I would go with a basic ivory and peach color theme. I was so excited about the embossed wedding cake turning out so well, I also embossed "congratulations" on the inside of the card and my signature stamp on the back (didn't take pictures of those though - sorry). Give me your thoughts and thanks for stopping by.

Have a great evening - I would be back tomorrow but Jim and I have a curriculum class at Patrick's school for 2 hours. It's so we can learn what our 5th graders are learning - I am definitely not smarter than a 5th grader and am not ashamed to say so :) After what we went through last year trying to learn how Patrick was being taught math in the 4th grade (it's so very different than how our two older children were taught a few years back), I'm very happy the school is doing this for us.

See you soon and hope you enjoy your Thursday.

Exciting News

Happy Wednesday everyone:

I was here at work taking my break and going through Google Reader and came across some exciting news from my good friend Vicki. She is starting a new challenge blog, and who doesn't love those :) Please head over to Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential and join in on the fun. I am so excited for Vicki on taking this wonderful adventure and know that she has a lot in store for us.

I'll be back later this afternoon to post a card I did a few nights ago.

Have a great afternoon.

Tag, I'm it ...

"Come now, Bobby," his friends used to say, "what's so wrong with a little hard work?

You're probably wondering what the world I'm saying here, but I was recently tagged by my good friend, Linda asking me to ...

1. Collect the book that is most handy
2. Turn to page 161
3. Find the 5th complete sentence
4. Cite the sentence on your blog
5. Pass the tag onto 5 other blogging friends.

The book in which this 5th complete sentence came from was The Book of Virtues for Young People under the section "Work"

I now have to tag 5 other blogging friends and will be doing that in the next day or two

Thanks Jill - this was a fun one and reminded me that I have this book and need to start reading it with Patrick since he's growing up too fast on me :) and is now considered a "young person". He's in the 5th grade and I still can't believe that.

Everyone have a great evening.

Hey there

Hi everyone:

I hope everyone is doing well. Me, doing very well, just extremely busy; however, the summer is winding down and it appears that things around here are doing the same. I have finished the tags and 3x3 cards I was asked to make a while back for a friend from work - it took me a lot longer to do that I had anticipated (she had asked me to make 50 tags and 25 3 x 3 cards), but I hope she likes them. Give me your thoughts.

I am now in the process of doing a stationary basket for my momma and sister who is having a benefit raffle for my uncle this weekend to raise money to help with paying for his heart transplant that he is waiting on. When I get those completed, I'll upload them.

I haven't been blog hopping very much lately and apologize for not stopping by to see what's going on but am excited about doing so soon. Also, I haven't been able to do the challenges with the wonderful group of ladies in the More The Merrier Group I am a part of and I want to apologize to each of them for not participating the past few months and to Karen for not doing the cake contest she was doing, but will tell you that I am hoping to give it a try and will show it to you once I do - it is a great idea and I love the one you did. I'm going to get back into all the challenges once I get the basket completed over the next few days.

Well, I'm off to start working on the basket - I'll talk to you all soon.

Love

Janet
