Finding buried treasure :)

Hi everyone:

I have been going through a big time cleaning phase these past few weeks and while working in my craft room, came across some old cross stitch items I did back in the early '90s. I had forgotten all about these, but am now going to wash them up, get them framed and hung up in my room so I can remember that I used to do that fun craft.  I have to finish up the wedding ring bouquet one, but I'll get there.  My friends Karen and Linda are huge cross stitch ladies and thought they would enjoy taking a look at these too :)

Let's Celebrate invitation

A few months ago, my friend and neighbor asked me to create a "Let's Celebrate" invitation for a get together she is having this month, but she wanted to do something a little different because there were so many things going on with her family over the past few months, birthdays, anniversaries, etc., along with her daughter and husband coming back to the East coast from being in Washington State for a while so Welcome Home was to be included. Now, you know me, I like a challenge, but boy this one was because I just couldn't figure out how to do it until I saw something that made the light bulb go off  I haven't created a variation of a normal card except to make a circle card for a friend a while back, so this one was going to be here. This is how it turned out. I was really excited with it and do believe Debbie was pleased   I can't wait for next year to create a new invitation for her.

Generation stamping

Hey everyone:

I hope all is well with everyone.  I have been very busy these past few weeks and I love it :)  I had to make 15 dinner invitations for my neighbor and once I get permission to post, will do that soon.  I was so happy with how they turned out especially since they were very different :)

I have been watching some YouTube videos of different techniques these past few months and came across Generation Stamping on Jennifer McGuire's video and loved the look.  The Studio Calico inks are perfect for this so had to give it a try.  It was so much fun.  I'm also working on my heat embossing, but have some work to go - I can't seem to heat it up enough or too much :)  On this particular card, I didn't put versamark on it correctly so it's not lined up, but I'm going with the generation stamping affect for that too :)

I hope you all enjoy because I really had fun making this.  I have several more cards I have been asked to make, so I'll be sharing those soon.

Two birthday cards to show

Happy Sunday everyone :)

Wow, what a week.  It has been Crazy, let me tell you.  I am taking vacation this week, so I have been trying to make sure everything was done before I left and that meant working late and getting started early.  I do believe my goal was accomplished and I can now enjoy the upcoming week because I have lots planned.

I have two cards to show you today.  Patrick told me on Wednesday that he was invited to a friend's house for a birthday party on Friday and would I make a card for him.  I said of course but couldn't do it until Friday because of trying to get things done.  We (yes, Patrick did help - shh, don't tell him I told you) created this one is about 30 minutes.  I thought it turned out pretty good and was thankful for Patrick's help.

The second one is for a lady at work whose daughter is turning 16 this week.  She showed me the colors of her cake and some of the things she enjoys, which is mainly music.  I wanted to have some musical notes on her card as well as the bow, but I couldn't find any stickers with musical notes, so I created them myself :)

I hope to be showing you more this coming week because I do plan on being creative.

Hey everyone:

As you can tell, I'm trying to stay the course (my planner is really being a huge help with this) and do at least one blog post a week and so far this week, I've done two :) making this the third one if you consider Sunday to be part of the week and not beginning.

I'm going to start you off with a few pictures I took yesterday of our beautiful fall colors here in SC.  I haven't really used my camera these past few months, but had a friend post some cool pictures on FaceBook a few weeks back that made me itch to get out there and start back up.  I also played around with PhotoShop (still trying to learn how to use that program).

I did create a few cards this week and am working on several projects for some people who are looking for Christmas gifts as well as getting our Christmas card making class at work scheduled for next month.  This card is one I made for a friend at work.  I have been watching some YouTube videos from the talented Jennifer McQuire and loved the diagonal stripe background stamp from My Favorite Things so had to give it a try.  I don't use those often (well, I only have three) but really loved how easy it was to use.  I also used a few sequins to bring some bling to the card :)  These are relatively new to me, but do believe I will be using them more often in the future.

New Year's Eve Wedding Invitations

Hey there:

As I mentioned last week, I was given the honor of creating 85 wedding invitations for a friend at work who is getting married on New Year's Eve.  I bet that will be fun, but then since I got married on January 6th, I wasn't too far off :)

My friend had seen several designs via Pinterest that she really liked but just couldn't come up with a specific one to choose, so we decided to put all 4 designs she liked into one card and this is what we came up with. Since they are bringing in the new year with a wedding, she wanted some glitz, so this glitter paper was perfect.  This is a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card, so that was a little different for me to work with, but with using my cricut, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be.  I was even able to make the envelopes using the wonderful tool, WeRMemory Keepers envelope board (love that thing).

It was such an honor doing these for her and I can't think her enough.

Money for the birthday boy

This weekend Patrick went to a birthday party celebrating his friend Andrew's 16th birthday. As we were on the way over, Patrick goes, "you know momma, Andrew and I have been best buds for 10 years now" and that sort of hit me hard because that just reminded me of how much Patrick and his friends are getting older.

Well, Patrick asked me to make Andrew a card and as I was looking for ideas, came across an old friend's blog and thought why not make a card to hold birthday cash in instead  This was inspired by Beate Johns, who I miss so much. I hope she is doing well. The card came out pretty good because I got an "Awesome" when finished :)

Happy Birthday and couldn't believe it :)

Hi there :)

I hope everyone is doing well this week.  We were in total shock when we arose yesterday to find almost 3 inches of snow had fallen overnight.  Yes, SC does get snow from time to time, but it's not usually until January and the fact that we had 80 degree weather that Monday through Wednesday made it even more confusing.  But I can say, it was sure beautiful.  The flakes were HUGE.  I'm sharing a few photos from our November 1, 2014 blizzard (I decided to do a collage so it wouldn't take up so much of the blog post).

I have been creating some these past few weeks, but I have an 85 wedding invitation order that I am working on (pictures to come after I have delivered and received permission to share) so I have been doing other things in between.  They are due Friday, so when that is over, I'll get back to creating more :) 

Patrick attended a birthday party on Friday and the girl lives on a farm and loves horses, so of course, he wanted a card that had a horse on it.  I, however, found this to be a difficult task. I'm not typically one to put pictures on a card, but I looked through some old sketches and found out her favorite colors, so we got started from there. I found the horse via the internet since I didn't have any horse images and loved this one. Patrick's friend was very happy with this creation and I do believe Patrick was as well.

I hope all is well with everyone and that you have a great week - I probably won't be back until then because of me having to finish up the invitations before Friday.

Happy Sunday evening:

I haven't been doing much creating this week, but I was going through some photos and have found some cards that I did over the summer, so I am going to be posting some things over the next few days showing you that I have been somewhat busy :)

Back in July, my sister Elaine celebrated her birthday and we gave her a surprise party.  She asked me to make her some thank you cards and couldn't tell her no.  A wonderful friend of mine, Debbie, had sent me a card kit a while back, so I decided to take that and put together these three thank you cards for her (thanks Debbie).

I have the next two days off from work, so I am hoping to get some things done, but we're going to take it one day at a time :)

Well hello there :)

Hi everyone:

I am here today to say HELLO and hope you are all well.  I was telling an awesome friend (waving hello Karen) of mine today that I just recently purchased a planner, which I am hoping will help me organize my crazy life a little bit better.  I have discovered that as I get older, my memory isn't as clear as it once was and that writing things down makes it so helpful.  Now as you can see from the photo of my planner, this is new to me, but am hoping that once I get the hang of it, this planner will be full of things :)  I am a very organized person typically, but keeping myself organized is another thing.

 

I just wanted to stop by, say hello and that I have missed you.  Wish me luck on getting myself organized and back to the blogging world again :)

 

 

In the meantime, I'm going to leave you with a few pictures of some sunflowers (you know those are my favorite) I took last weekend while visiting my family in NC.  Aren't they just beautiful.

Hi there :)

First off, I want to thank you all so much for being patient with me during these past few months.  We have had some difficult times here, but a good friend told me several months ago that creating can take me away any troubles for a short few hours, so I have been trying to do that at least once a week.  I truly do miss it and am happy to bring you a few cards I did for my sister, Elaine.  We celebrated her birthday the first of July by throwing her a surprise party (you have to realize, she is extremely hard to surprise so it was great to be able to do this and how fun) - she was truly surprised.  

Afterwards, she asked me to make her some thank you cards to send to all the wonderful friends and family so I of course got busy (she asked for 40 :)).  Here are just a few.  I made a special one for her two best bud and will have that one up soon.

This has also kept me busy :)  Can't believe he is in the 10th grade this year :(  Time is going too fast.  He's a little unkept here because I was so down the morning he went to school that I forgot to take a picture :) He was kind enough to let me take this after he got back that first day :)

I am hoping to get back to blogging, at least once a week to start off with and then hopefully more as winter sets in, so if I don't see you before next week, have a great one.

Hey everyone

Hi there :)

It's been a while and I hope everyone has been well.  I have been busy, but not in the creative arena, unfortunately :( but I am getting my desire to start creating again, so hopefully I will up and going in the next few weeks. 

 

I will leave you with one of the reasons I have been so busy.  Patrick started the 10th grade this year and what a busy bee he is :) but he sure can make us laugh and for this I am truly grateful.

Wow, it has been a while

Hi everyone:

Happy  Easter to each and everyone one of you.

 I can't believe it has been almost 4 months since I have posted something here, but it has been a challenging few months and haven't been able to do much creating or blog surfing during those months.  I am hoping to get back at it a lot more in the coming months, but be patient with me, because it will be slow coming, but it will :)

I have a great friend at work who is getting ready to have a new baby girl in the next few months and we are giving her a shower this week and just knew that the new stamps I purchased from Newton's Nook Winged Wishes would be perfect.  I just love this stamp set.

Since it's been a while, I just wanted to create a quick and simple card, but this card took me over an hour to create and am sure it was because it's going to take me some time to get my mojo going again.  It will get there, I know.

I hope you all have a great Sunday and enjoy the time you spend with your family on this wonderful day.
