Christmas Card 2013 resolution

Hey there everyone.  Can you believe today is the last day of January?  I surely can't - it has flown by.  I have been working on my New Year resolutions and am happy to say that so far they are doing okay, especially since none of them deal with exercise or diet :)  One of my resolutions is to create at least one Christmas card every month so when December rolls around, I won't be upset with myself because no cards are available to mail out.  So on this 31st day of January, I am posting my first Christmas card for 2013.

My card is using the My Minds Eye All is Bright Christmas Collection, which you can purchase from The Hens' Den, which is now having a huge sale to make room for some new stuff Charlie purchased at CHA recently.  I so enjoyed using these papers and elements that came with it - I love it when everything works together.  By adding the May Arts lace and Tim Holtz Christmas Adornment as a few of my final touches, my card turned out even better.  

I had originally placed the wreath adornment without anything under it, but it was just too plain, so went through my paper pad and found this Christmas tree and thought it looked great.  To me, it gives it that extra Christmas effect.

I used two challenges to created this card and they were the Sunday Sketch & Stamp and Merry Monday over at Always Playing with Paper blog, in which you were to use a tic-tac-toe procedure.  I took the bottom line on the tic-tac-toe card, which was designer paper, red & green and ribbon (does this mean I win? - LOL).

It's a baby girl

I am finally posting one of the baby cards my good friend Lisa asked me to make for her a few months back.  This was such an easy card to do and got the idea from Pinterest (love that place).

Happy Birthday Carol

My good friend Carol celebrated her birthday last week and wanted to make her a special birthday card.  I used a sketch I found a few weeks ago but can't remember it :(  I am getting so forgetful, but that's what I get for not writing it down :) I am in love with the papers from Simple Stories Generations - they are so great to work with.

As I have been going through my papers these past months, I have come across so many papers & kits that I had forgotten all about and told myself that I was going to start using them, so this is a good start, don't you think?

Design Team Member - The Hens' Den

Well, can you believe your eyes?  I have finally created a Christmas layout :) It's been way too long since I have actually put a scrapbook layout together. I have been dabbling in digital scrapbooking for a few months, but it has been almost a year since I did a traditional layout and boy, have I missed it.

I have decided to take a good friend's advise this year, which is to grab a picture and make a layout right then.  There's no need for organizing them (which is always a problem for me because I tend to look at the pictures more than organizing them - too many memories) you just grab and create.  Thanks Gina for this great idea.

I came across some old holiday photos from 2010 and got started there.  I am once again using My Mind's Eye All is Bright Christmas collection - I love this collection.  Patrick has always loved wearing his Santa hat during the whole month of December so it is a great place to start :)

A few  months back, I was trying to locate some great scrapbook sketches and came across Page Maps and have fallen in love with their sketches, both cards and layouts.  When I was pursuing their blog, they had a tab that intrigued me because it was something I hadn't seen before, "half-maps" so I wanted to give it a try.  After I completed the half page, I just wasn't happy with it because I'm still a traditional type girl, I suppose and had to put that half page on the full 12x12 paper :)  I'm going to have to work on this traditional stuff this year :)

The collection has some of the cutest paper and when Patrick saw the one that had both a library card and music on it, knew I would have to use it somewhere because he loves to read and music is a very big part of who he is.  I really enjoyed putting this together and am looking forward to making another one soon.

Well, I have finally taken the step and created a FaceBook page called "Life Full of Sunflowers".  I wasn't really sure about doing this, but after consideration and reading (yes, I went to the library and got "FaceBook for Dummies"), thought it would be a fun way to get our craft out in the world more as well as my blog.  I have so many goals this year and believe that by doing this, many of them will be met - fingers crossed.

Featuring My Minds Eye - All is Bright Christmas collection

Today is my first post as a design team member for The Hens Den and I couldn't be more excited.  I am going to have a lot of fun working with these talented ladies.

This is my first project for The Hens Den and it is somewhat different from what I typically make; however, I thoroughly enjoyed working on a new and interesting project.  I have always wanted to create individual calendar pages to place on my desk and after seeing the kit I received from Charlie, knew it would be perfect for a December calendar page.  So, I took this opportunity to create just that for December 2013.

I am really excited to finish up the rest of my 2013 calendars and will be sure to post them as I go along.  I'm trying to determine whether to do them on a monthly basis or go ahead and get them all done at one time.  I love this My Mind's Eye collection and can't wait to use it again.

I have been on a kick here lately on participating in more challenges and so, I decided to do a sketch challenge today and knew that Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch would be the perfect one to try.  Karen Motz designed this week's sketch and it was a great one to work with - thanks Karen.

I CASEd the Featured Stamper ...

... on Splitcoaststampers yesterday.  I have never participated in this challenge before and boy, what a way to start :)  Janelle is the featured stamper and her gallery is amazing.  It was very difficult to chose from; to see the card I CASEd, click here.  This is my interpretation of her card.  You can't tell it from the picture, but this was stamped in SU perfect plum - it looks black in this picture.  I really need to make sure my colors come out better in future postings.  This was a great card to make not only because of how well it turned out, but it a quick one - I can see this card getting made more than once and in different colors :)

I do believe I'm going to be participating in many more of these challenges, because not only was it fun, but it allowed  me to meet a few new bloggers, which is always a wonderful thing :)

Little Tangles challenge

My great friend Tenia is a design team member over at Little Tangles and since this was the first time I had heard of Little Tangles, wanted to head over and take a look.  I'm glad I did because there are some amazing designers there.  Their challenge this week is Clean and Simple, so decided to use this card.  

I am, unfortunately, in need of too many sympathy cards here lately and am not usually one to put too much on those cards - I mainly want to let the person receiving the cards that they are in our thoughts and prayers.  This challenge was perfect to use for this.

My Goodness ...

... I hadn't realized how long it was still I had posted last.  One of my new year resolutions is to blog more often and stay caught up with my blogging friends, but it appears I'm not starting off very well :)  I can say, however, that I have been busy organizing, purging and getting ready for a new year of crafting, so after a few more days of that I should be ready to go with keeping that resolution - keep your fingers crossed for me.

This is a card I created for a friend who was attending a wedding reception and she asked for something that had their initials on it and this image idea immediately came to my mind.  At first I wasn't very pleased with it because to me, the "S" overtook the wedding bands, but the more I looked at it, the more it started to grow on me.  Veronica said she liked it and that's what matters the most.

I am hoping to create a little bit tomorrow after more cleaning, so keep an eye open just in case :)
