Mr. & Mrs.

One more day until the weekend begins - hurray !! I am so ready for it. I am going to be cleaning out my scrapbooking stuff this weekend to get ready for a class I'm teaching at work in a few weeks ... it's a Learn How to Scrapbook class for people who want keep saying they want to start, but don't know how. It's always fun to share my favorite hobbies with friends because once they get started, you can tell they love it as well. I'm excited about getting it all organized and I'm sure I'll be seeing things I had forgotten I had (it will be like Christmas all over) and since I'm going to try and incorporate more scrapbooking in my life, this is going to be the perfect start :)

If you will recall, I did thank you notes for a girl at work who is getting married soon. We had her bridal shower this past weekend and this is the shower card I made for her. Her colors are pink and white, but placed a little brown to it because those are such great colors together. I thought this turned out pretty good. She liked it, which is the important thing.

The papers are from Bazzill, the ribbon from Offray, the stamp from Inkadinkado and the ink is Rose by ColorBox - you can also see I used my CB to put some texture to it.

I hope you all have a great evening and a fabulous Friday.

Clean & Simple

Happy Monday evening everyone:

I'm so glad to say that because this Monday is almost over and Tuesday will be here soon. I am finally getting myself together after having a very difficult week adjusting to the time change - I don't know why it hit me so hard this year, but it sure did. I haven't been blogging or talking to my wonderful online friends like I should have and apologize for this, but now that I'm getting there, I'll make it up to you all by visiting more often this week.

I was going over all the wonderful challenges from the past month (I just can never find the time to do them in a timely manner) and came across this sketch from Clean & Simple and fell in love with it. Not only was this a pretty sketch, but it only took me ten minutes to make. How cool is that :) This is one that I will be using often. I can't remember who makes the DP, it's some I have had for a long time, the CS is Bazzill and the ribbon is from a goody bag I picked up from a local scrapbook store during one of their yard sale weekends.

Well, off to go over Patrick's homework - they are studying geometry and I understand that :) After all the hair pulling on my end to try and figure out decimals and fractions last week, I'm glad it's on to something different this week. Jim did sit down and explain it to him (and to me) in better detail and whatever he said worked because he made a 96 on his test, woo-hoo :)

Have a great evening and TFL.

Several more challenges

Hey everyone:

I hope you all are well. Me, I'm struggling with math problems today - Patrick is learning how to turn fractions into decimals and I have always had difficulty in math without the use of a calculator :) Also, it is taught so differently than when I went to school as well as our older kids, so I'm going to do the next best thing, wait until daddy gets home. Jim is so good at math, it boggles my mind. I will become not only mother tonight but student as well when he gets home :)
I have actually done several challenges over the past few days and I have a few more I want to do before the week is over. The first one is from The Pink Elephant - we are to use the colors pink, green & brown, which is one of my favorite color combos and came up with this birthday card. I used BasicGrey papers (LOVE THEM) and my MS border bunch. The label was made by using my cricut machine and the accent essentials cartridge my good friend Jennifer let me borrow (thanks Jennifer) and even though you can't really see it, the sentiment is stamped in brown Memento ink and edged with pink colorbox ink.

The second one is for the CPS sketch challenge (this was a fun sketch) and Penny Black Saturday Challenge, which was to use 3 brads, 2 ribbons and one flower. Can you tell I am loving the BasicGrey sultry paper? I don't really like how it turned out, but couldn't figure out what I needed to do to fix it, so I'm leaving it alone for now. Give me your thoughts.

Thanks and I hope you all have a great evening.

What a beautiful day

Happy Sunday everyone:

I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful day. It is so warm here in South Carolina and even though we would like to be outside, we must stay inside - Patrick is still dealing with a cough and running nose and I'm one of those protective mothers who make their kids stay inside until they are 100%. The doctor says that it is viral and just has to run it's course - we are giving him children's musinex and it seems to be helping :)

I am getting ready to head over and visit all the wonderful blogs from the Kreative Ladyblogs and others I visit often since I haven't been there in a week - I am trying harder to see you more often, but it's just not working out the way I like it yet. First, however, I'm going to post a card I made recently for a girl who loves the color purple and butterflies. I used my butterfly nestabilities and if you look close, you can see one on the bottom of the popped up butterfly - gives it that shadowing effect. I also edged the sides of the card with purple, but you can't really see it that well. It was a very simple card but she liked it.

Well, I hope you enjoy the rest of your day and I'll talk to you soon.

Do you remember a few posts back, I showed you a masculine birthday card? Well, Harry's step-daughter has her birthday on the same day, so I made one for her as well. She turned 12 and is all girl. When I saw this paper, which I believe is from DCWV, it just jumped out at me and said this is perfect for Bailey. I used the nestabilities to cut out the scalloped shaped circles (used my CB - I just adore that thing) and the sentiment stamp is from Inkadinkado. She loved it, so I was glad the paper came to me the way it did - it was the first piece I looked at - how often does that happen? NOT !!

Also, please take notice to the name change of my SCS Blogger Group #7 name - several of the ladies came up with some very creative names and we took a poll and the final result was "Kreative Ladyblogs" - this one was Sue's idea. Isn't it catchy? I love it. I am having so much fun being a part of this group, learning about each of them, where they live and am very lucky to have them as my on-line stamping buddies. Please stop by their blogs when you get a chance and see how talented they are - you will be in awe when you do.

Well, supper is almost done, so I'm off to feed the crew :) Have a great evening.

A wonderful award and finally !!

Good afternoon everyone:
The first post is to thank my good friend Lisa Foster for this wonderful award she presented me last week. I just adore Lisa and am always so happy to hear from her. She is super talented and amazes me each time I see what all she has done. Please head over to her blog and see what I mean. Thank you again Lisa for this - it truly means a lot to me.
The second part is that I have finally completed the first challenge for February that my SCS Blogger group did - Nancy, I am so sorry for the delay in getting this completed. Nancy presented us with a sketch and asked us to green and blue - it was suppose to be for Valentine's but since it has passed, I used Thinking of You instead and hope that will be okay. You can't really see it, but the designer paper is green and blue - I tried to get a better photo, but it just wouldn't work. Nancy, thanks for making this challenge - it was a fun one !!

I hope you guys have a great rest of the week.

The Pink Elephant Challenge

Good afternoon everyone:

Well, I am doing my first The Pink Elephant Challenge. This week's challenge is to use ribbon and die cuts - both of these are some of my favorite things, so it wasn't too hard to do :) I used my cricut to make the birthday die cuts and there is a small piece of ribbon holding the "happy birthday" sentiment on at the bottom. I really do like how this turned out and it's a great way of saying Happy Birthday, don't you think?

We didn't get any snow last night :( We were a little disappointed, but that just means we weren't suppose to have any. The school district called off school just in case, but Patrick is home sick with a sinus infection :( so I am at home with him today - he is taking a nap right now, and I'm taking a little break to look at what everyone has done the last few days.

Hope you all have a great evening.

Anticipation

Hey everyone:

Well, we are anticipating snow again tonight and from what I am seeing, we will be getting between 2-4 inches. I can tell you that it is cold enough to snow, but it's just crazy weather - it was in the 70's at the beginning of the week and now there's talk of snow :)

I went to my first ever Stampin Up workshop yesterday and I tell you, I just wanted to get everything from that catalog - there are so many wonderful things in there :) It was so much fun and I learned a few new things. My friend Teresa had sent me some wonderful Top Note dies in a image swap a while back and feel in love with them, so I just had to have one. I have a cuttlebug and was told that I could use it with the CB so you can imagine my excitement while I was ordering it yesterday (thanks Teresa - I can see why it is on your fav list).

Okay, on to the reason you're here. I am going to post a masculine card today. Doing the man cards and sympathy cards are usually the hardest ones for me, but I had help with this one. I used a sketch from a new book of sketches I received - Joy of Cardmaking. I love following sketches - it makes creating so much easier. I really did like how this turned and Harry just loved it.

Well, I'm going to head off to visit all the wonderful blogs I can before the snow comes in. I hope you all have a great Sunday afternoon.
