Shower thank you

It's Wednesday :) I hope everyone is getting through this week feeling good and happy to see it coming close to the weekend.

As some of you may know, I was asked to make bridal shower thank you cards for a girl at work and I got them done last week. Her wedding colors, as you can guess, are white & pink. When I made the samples, she couldn't decide on just one, so she asked me to make 10 of each (she needed 30 to start off with, so it worked out great). I have her the last set on Monday and she said she will be needing more in the next few weeks :)

They were very simple, but I think they turned out very nice.

Hope you enjoy - have a great evening and I'll talk to you soon.

Quick Post

Good evening:

I hope everyone is as happy as I am that Monday is behind us and that Tuesday is on its way :)

I have a real quick post tonight because I have to get back to working on the bridal shower thank you cards I have been asked to make, but I wanted to stick with my goal of posting as often as I can. This card was for a friend from work, whose birthday was Saturday and as you guessed it, purple is her favorite color. I thought this turned out pretty good.

Well, off to get some work done; at least, this is fun work :) I shouldn't say that because I do enjoy my job.

Talk to you tomorrow.

Where has ...

... this weekend gone? Please pass on the answer if you have it because I for one would love to know. It has been the quickest weekend and I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that it has been so busy. Friday, I picked up Patrick early from school and took him to get his new glasses (they look so good on him and what a cutie he is - I'll get a picture uploaded soon). Saturday was filled with going to the Scrap, Stamp & Art Tour that came to Columbia - I was there from 9:45 until around 2:30 and stopped at every vendor with my friend Debbie and soaked in everything I could. It was tons of fun. One of the highlights on the tour was finally meeting someone I have been wanting to for a while now - Keri Lee Sereika (what a talented lady). You may have read in one of my past posts that Keri has been one of my earlier followers and has been so gracious with helping me learn and become more creative each and every month. We both live in South Carolina and aren't that far from one another and have tried over the past few months to get together, but our calendars usually conflict, but hopefully soon. She and some of her stamping buddies traveled up for the show and we finally met. You talk about a sweet layd, she is great and I look forward getting to know her more. I also had the opportunity to meet one of her friends, Gail, who was so very nice and I really did enjoy talking with her. Keri, please pass on a hello from me and hope to see her again soon. When I got home, I had to get ready for a surprise birthday party for a friend of mine and Jim's. Harry was completely taken by surprise and it is always fun when you fool someone like that :) We all had a great time. Well, I've talked enough about my weekend - I hope everyone has had a great one like I have.

I am showing you a card I made for one of the attorneys in the office I work at. She is originally from Charleston and such a elegant lady. She loves flowers (she is the President of her garden club) and when I saw this paper, just knew it would be right for her.

I am so far beyond on my blogging, I need to head off and visit everyone. Hope you all have a great Sunday.

It's almost here

It's almost here - can you guess what I'm talking about? The weekend :)

I hope everyone is having a great week so far - it's good on this end so far. Today, I want to show you a thank you card I made for a group of people who helped me make my department's annual retreat go off without a hitch at the beginning of this year. I work in the title services section of a large law firm - I review title abstracts and prepare title policies - I absolutely love it. We have our retreat once a year and everyone at the conference center did such a great job in helping me get it reserved, set up and then provided an awesome lunch for us. I just had to send them a very special thank you. I took the colors from the conference room we used and put them into the design - I'm a huge fan of brown but didn't like the way this turned out at first, but then I added the ribbon and it seemed to bring it together a little better. I'm still not too kin on it, but it worked to say thank you and the director called to say that it was beautiful when she received it - so it must have been okay on their end.

Well, I'll be back tomorrow and I hope everyone has a great evening and a fabulous Friday.

A green birthday

Hey:

Well, I'm so far sticking to my plan to post more often during the week :), but this is going to be a quick one - I have been asked to make thank you cards for a girl who is having her bridal shower this weekend (I thought I was doing a lot of birthdays, but I think weddings have been very popular for me the last few month) and I got the go ahead this morning on the ones she liked (I'll post them once completed). I took her three different samples and since she couldn't pick out just one, wants me to make 10 of each for now, so I'm off to start working on them along with getting supper started, Patrick's homework going and I think I may even wash a load of clothes - you would think I'm full of energy NOT.

I have a very good friend from work whose birthday was Monday and wanted to make a card using her favorite color, green. At first I was hesitate about these colors, but after putting it together, I really liked how this turned out - I like the patterned paper, it has a little bit of glitter around the flowers (I can't remember where I got it or who makes it, sorry). I didn't put the sentiment on the front, so this could be used for anything. I do believe this is going to be one of those cards I can make ahead of time and use for anything and with different colors.

Well, I am off even though this was a longer post than I anticipated - once I get started, I have a hard time stopping :)

Have a great evening.

Lego Batman

Good evening everyone:

I am going to try and do better about posting more often and today is going to be that day when I start :)

Patrick went to a birthday party a few weeks ago and asked me to make a card for his friend, who like himself, loves Lego's - if you think I'm a crafting nut, our son is a Lego maniac :) but I'm glad he has something to create when it's not pretty outside and the good thing is he will actually take the Lego's and play with them instead of displaying them - he is creating in his own way. The party theme for his friend's birthday was Lego Batman. Do you any idea how difficult it is to come up with a Lego birthday card? Not only was it a thinker, but Patrick asked me to do it a few hours before the party - oh, the fun of quick cards. I remembered that CPS had a neat sketch the week before that might just work for this card and sure enough it did (thanks CPS - I just love sketches). I found the Lego Batman on the Internet and pieced the Lego's together with cardstock. Patrick (both of them, the birthday boy's name was also Patrick) seemed to like it and his mother asked me to make her a card for an upcoming birthday, so she must have liked it as well.

Off to make supper and get Patrick ready for school tomorrow.

Have a great evening.

Another great blog award

Hey everyone:

I have another blog award to post - this one was given to me by my very special friend Broni and thank her so much. It is such an honor to receive this from her - she has such amazing talent and getting this from her means a lot. Broni informed me that this award was given to her by Marianne Walker, who is the copic guru, so if you love those markers, you must visit her blog! The interesting part is that Marianne designed and drew this award herself - it's awesome.

I’d like to pass this award along to all of my SCS Blogger Group #7 - please visit their sites located on the left hand side of this post. It has been so much fun being a part of this group and they are all so inspirational - their comments always make my day. I must, however, give a special thank you to Sue because she has been there to provide me with the best comments and "way to go" since I began this blog (she was the one who provided me with my first ever award as shown on the left column) - we meet through SCS and I am so very glad we did because she has become the best ever friend. Here are two others I would like to nominate:
  • Elaine - this is my sister and even though she doesn't have a blog or doesn't make cards (gasp, I know), she is always one of the first to visit and leaves me some of the best comments that just brighten my day. I love you !!
  • Keri - Pink Lemonade - A true inspiration to me. She is also another lady who has been visiting since I began and I look forward to hearing from her. I am truly blessed to have her as a friend.

Thanks to all of you ladies and to all of you who visit me regularly. I appreciate each and every one of you!

Have a great Sunday

Janet

Truly Blessed and finally posted

Well, I am now finally getting this post onto my blog. My great friend Teresa presented me with two separate awards and a challenge (you can find the result of that challenge in a post below) back on January 30th and I have just recently figured out how to get the awards posted (I'm so blogger challenged still) and apologize to Teresa for taking this long to get them here. Now on to the first award - it is the Kreativ Blogger

and I am to tell you about seven of my favorite things as well as nominate seven other great bloggers. Here is a list of a few of my favorite things ... please note, that they are not in any order.

1. my family
2. making others laugh
3. taking trips with Jim on our motorcycle
(we are taking a long trip this summer - more to come in a later post)
4. reading a good book while it's raining
5. vanilla ice cream
6. knowing my friends can count on me to be there for them at anytime
7. making cards, scrapbooking & stamping, stamping & more stamping.

Here are my nominees to receive this great award (I just couldn't stop at seven) and they are as follows:

Chrissy - Creating With Chrissy
Allison - Stampin When I Can
Keri Lee - Pink Lemonade
Denise - The Paper Landscaper
Broni - Splashes of Watercolor
Jo - Stampin 'n Stuff
Debbie - Thinking Inking
Lisa - Stampin' for Sanity
Robin - Robin's Rubber Room

The second award is called the Proximity Award and here's how it works:
This award is given to a blog that invests and believes in PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind of bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!” The rule of the award is to now pass it on to another 8 people who demonstrate this spirit. I have nominated all the ladies in my SCS blogger group #7. Please visit them all when you get a chance because they all inspire me with their beautiful work and I am truly honored to have them as a part of this group.

Thank you so much Teresa for these great awards - it means so much to me to have received these from you. I hope you and everyone else has a great weekend and a Happy Valentine's Day.
